Dr. Besas grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed a Master of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine - Georgia Campus and went on to complete Internal Medicine Residency at Oklahoma State University. He finally completed Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, where he served as Chief Fellow. As Co-Medical Director for the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program at Harris Methodist Fort Worth, he has a devoted interest in mechanical circulatory support and a keen interest in the use of Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in the ICU.
Dr. Besas joined the Texas Pulmonary & Critical Care Consultants family in 2021. He loves animals and has “a zoo” at home. He also enjoys cycling and martial arts.
